I am easily fascinated by everything- ranging from the big fancy dos to the intricate minute details. I want each picture I take to speak for itself where a narrative is formed, bringing it to life with one glace from the observer’s eye. However, because each picture has its own voice the characters featured determine the course of the narrative. I also want each picture to be sentimentally meaningful so that a connection can be established between the observer and the observed and there is no better way than to use everyday people who tell everyday stories as my models and characters. I want my art to depict truth rather than being mere abstractions of reality (partial truths)- capturing everyday characters going about their daily routines in settings as natural as possible. Extracting the raw emotions- the smiles, the tears, the questions, the doubts, the frustrations and the fears that cannot be manipulated or reproduced in the lab. I want my creativity to merge with the material at hand- where the slide show playing in my head is transcribed in a picture.
Simplicity- most of the time, things become more complicated than they are, or should be. I want to capture elements in the setting I find myself in (be it intentional or accidental), as untainted as possible - bringing out the life in the statute and enhancing the motion of the mobile. With regards to people however, I want to be able to catch that 'moment' - the one that is remembered and always talked about; harmonising the minute details of time and space in one perfect picture. This, makes what I do worth it. All the running around, in pursuit of the moment where the persona engages with the environment or connects with another; even if it's for a brief moment- it's one of the rare treasures money cannot buy. Currently I'm residing in SIngapore.
